Postpartum doulas are concerned with the welfare of the whole family. We are there to help share knowledge of infant-care. We care for new parents and siblings, create a safe space for families to bond, help with healing and provide evidence-based information regarding infant care.
We offer daytime postpartum support. We are both infant CPR trained. The services we offer include: lactation support, family meal and snack prep, and mental-heath check-ins. During our visit we educate you about infant care including these areas: pumping, bottle-feeding, calming your infant, babywearing, cloth diapering, infant massage and sleep-practices. We do light housekeeping duties, including infant laundry.
We also have many referrals for different services, including bodywork, lactation specialists, and practitioners.
Postpartum doulas usually start work the first week of baby's arrival and continue for up to a month or more. Each week will look a little bit different. An average parent will ask for around 6 hours a day for several days a week. Our goal is reduce our work hours and leave each family ready for early parenthood.
Some parents may prefer just a few visits or a simple consultation.
Please note that West LA Doulas do not offer overnight support.
